Government Takes Action Against The Issue

The Tamil Nadu Government had recently take the action against the liquor crackdown. Around 67 employees have been suspended because they were asking more amount of money from the customers instead of the labeled price in the bottle is mentioned. There were many complaints came from the customers.

As per the complaints are filed, the shopkeeper is charging Rs10 or Rs 20 more from all the customers then written in the bottle. Rs10 or 20 may not seem like a big amount. But when it is charged from all the customers it is a big amount at the end of the month or year or when they calculate their profit. So, regarding this serious matter the government takes the action.

    Why Were Many Employees Suspended?

As mentioned earlier that the main reason is overcharging.Customers are supposed to pay the price which is printed on the bottle not more than that. Employees are not allowed to add their own extra charges.

After receiving complaints, officials checked some TASMAC shops. During these checks, they found cases where customers were allegedly being charged more than the printed price. Because of this, 67 employees were suspended.

This action is also a warning to other TASMAC workers to follow the rules while dealing with customers.

    Complaints From Different Cities

There were many complaints came from the customers and even from the different places where the liquor shops were overcharging. The cities where overcharging in the shops have been done are Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Salem and Tiruchirappalli.

The government have kept the officials and they are now paying more attention to these shops so they cannot overcharge. More checking can also help them find out if the same problem is happening at other outlets.

    Customers Can Complain

The government has also introduced a 24-hour complaint facility for TASMAC customers.

This is helpful because customers now have a proper way to report problems. If an employee asks for extra money from the customer, the customer can complain instead of just paying it and leaving.

Sometimes many people do not complain because the extra amount is only Rs10 or Rs20 or many customers are even afraid to file a complaint. They may think it is not worth the argument or it is not necessary. But when many people face the same problem, it becomes an issue that needs to be reported.

    Billing Is Another Issue

There is also a problem related to giving bills to customers. The Madras High Court has recently taken action over complaints that some TASMAC shops were not giving proper bills.

A bill is important because it shows how much the customer paid. It also gives them proof of the purchase. For the shop and the government, proper billing can make it easier to keep track of sales.

    What Customers Should Know

Customers should check the price printed on the bottle and pay the correct amount. If any employee asked from the customers the extra money they are advised to report through the compliant facility.

The suspension of 67 employees shows that the government is taking the complaints seriously. It also reminds TASMAC employees that they have to follow the rules and deal fairly with customers.

The Tamil Nadu liquor crackdown has mainly brought attention to two basic issues — charging the right price and giving customers proper bills.
